Romeo Must Die

Romeo Must Die are a metal band from Southend-on-Sea, England, active from 2007 to 2012. The group forms after the break-up of Stampin' Ground and features Aaron Darling, Paul Fletcher, Adam Frakes-Sime, Ben Frost and Will Romain.

Background

The band emerges from the South of England heavy music scene and quickly attracts attention because of the members’ earlier pedigree in Stampin' Ground. After forming in 2007, they complete two sold-out UK tours and receive strong reactions from both press and audiences.

Releases

Their debut EP, Defined By Enemies, is a seven-track release produced by Scott Atkins and issued on the independent label In at the Deep End Records, alongside releases by Gallows, Suicide Silence and Sylosis. It becomes the fastest-selling record on the label. Three months later, the EP’s video enters rotation on Scuzz TV.

The band’s debut album, Hardships In Season, appears first as a free covermount with Metal Hammer magazine in March 2011, reaching an audience of more than 60,000. It is later released in full as a remastered dual digipack together with Defined By Enemies.

Touring and live activity

Romeo Must Die support a number of heavy acts, including Biohazard, Textures, Sylosis and Evile. They also tour as a headline act in Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia, Greece, Holland and Belgium. The band also plays a 13-date UK tour with The Defiled.

Style and reception

The group is associated with metalcore, hardcore, thrashcore, groove metal and metal. Their music is described in terms of intense, forceful heavy music, and they are presented as a band built on experience, songwriting and a strong underground following.
