Roger Sanchez is a house and electronic DJ and producer from Queens, United States. He is associated with the acts Logic, Dream Team, The S-Men and Box Office, and his work sits within house and electronic music.

Career

Sanchez begins DJing in New York in the late 1980s and first gains international attention in 1990 with the track “Luv Dancin’”, released on Strictly Rhythm under the name Underground Solution. He also works under the alias Transatlantic Soul, and later develops the long-running Release Yourself project, which starts with the club single “Release Yo Self” in 1996.

He becomes known for commercial house tracks that chart in Europe and internationally, while also gaining critical respect for his productions among house DJs. His best-known single is “Another Chance”, which reaches number one in the UK singles chart and uses a sample from the first verse of Toto’s “I Won’t Hold You Back”. The track appears on his first album, First Contact.

Releases, labels and projects

Sanchez owns Stealth Records, which he sets up in 2002. He also founds three record labels before Stealth, and the verified labels Narcotic and Diesel Management are associated with him. Release Yourself grows from a single into a club concept, a CD mix series, a podcast radio show, and an annual Ibiza residency. The radio show is syndicated worldwide.

Remixes, collaborations and recognition

He remixes artists including Chic, Daft Punk, Diana Ross and The Police. He also contributes to the soundtrack of the film Blade. In 2004, he wins a Grammy for Best Remixed Recording for his remix of “Hella Good”.
