Roger McGuinn

Roger McGuinn, born James McGuinn III in Chicago, United States, is a singer, guitarist and songwriter associated with folk and rock music. He is best known as a founding member of The Byrds, where he plays a central role in the band’s sound and songwriting. His work also connects him with a number of other groups, including The New Christy Minstrels, The Beefeaters, The Jet Set, The City Surfers, McGuinn, Clark & Hillman and Roger McGuinn’s Thunderbyrd.

After The Byrds end, McGuinn continues as a solo artist and works with other musicians including Bob Dylan and Tom Petty. Some of his solo recordings also appear in film, including Easy Rider. In 1991, he and the other members of The Byrds receive induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
