Rob Mello is a UK-based DJ and producer from London who records, produces and remixes house and electronic music. He has been active since 1992 and has been DJing since 1985.
Career
Rob Mello is associated with deep house and tech house, and his work spans a wide catalogue of releases. He co-founds the house label Luxury Service and is also linked with a number of projects and acts including Disco Elements, Black Science Orchestra, Heaven & Earth, Rising Sunz, The Deviants, Detox Twins, Reel Houze, Sensory Productions, Jump Cutz and Sensory Elements.
As part of Disco Elements, he helps pioneer the duo’s disco house sound and the project is signed to Azuli Records. He also produces the first Black Science Orchestra single with Ashley Beadle, Where Were You, for the London house label Boys Own.
His releases appear regularly on Classic Records, where he works for around a decade before being given the final release on the label, Cat nos 000.
Film work
Mello also moves into film scoring. In 1999, with Matthew Herbert, he writes the incidental music for the UK club culture film Human Traffic, and the pair are nominated for a BAFTA for that work.
Activity
He has regular appearances and residencies and is described as having a style that is in demand internationally.
