Rival Consoles is the electronic music project of Ryan Lee West, a producer and sound designer from Leicester, United Kingdom. West is born in 1985 and graduates from De Montfort University after experimenting with sound production. His work sits within electronic, IDM and microhouse, and also connects to ambient and experimental music.

Releases and recording

Rival Consoles makes his debut release on Erased Tapes Records in 2007 with the Vemeer EP. The Decadent follows as his first release under the Rival Consoles name. In 2009, he appears on the split release 65 / Milo with label mates Kiasmos, contributing three tracks. His first full-length album, IO, is rereleased the same year. Later releases include Kid Velo in 2011, the five-track Odyssey EP in 2013 and Sonne in 2014.

Performance and other work

Alongside his recorded output, West works as a sound designer. He performs repeatedly at the Tate and creates a bespoke audio-visual performance for Boiler Room at the V&A. He also produces remixes for the New York composer Nico Muhly and the UK producer Jon Hopkins, and composes original music for dance, film and television.
