Ricky Ross is a Scottish singer-songwriter from Dundee. He is the founder and lead singer of Deacon Blue, a rock and pop group he forms in 1985 and which signs to CBS soon afterwards. The band releases five studio albums and six compilation albums, splits in 1994, then reforms in 1999 and continues to record and tour when members’ other commitments allow.

Solo work

Ross releases his first solo record, So Long Ago, in 1984 on the Scottish independent label Sticky Music. He returns to solo recording in 1996 with What You Are on Epic Records, followed by New Recording on his own Internazionale label in 1997, This Is The Life on Papillon Records in 2002, and Pale Rider on P3 Music in 2005.

Songwriting and collaborations

Alongside his own recordings, Ross spends much of his time writing for and with other artists. Those collaborations include James Blunt, Ronan Keating, Gareth Gates, Emma Bunton and Cathy Burton.
