Rev78 form in 2006 and take their name from the old 78 revolutions per minute shellac recordings. The band begins as the project of guitarist Dave Gritzman and bass player Jimi Laff, then goes through a series of lineup changes before settling into its later line-up. Teddy Quick joins in August 2008, and drummer Tom Hargreaves is added in 2010.

The group works in indie, rock and alternative rock, and is associated with Day Job Records. It builds a live profile through appearances at venues and festivals across the UK. Rev78 release their debut album, The Boy In The Blitz, through Day Job Records, with formats including download and CD.
