Rene Amesz
Rene Amesz is a Dutch house and electronic music producer and DJ from the Netherlands. He begins his career in Rotterdam and first works under various monikers for Mid-Town before building a more defined sound around heavy beats, strong grooves and detailed arrangements.
Early career
Before moving into music full-time, Amesz is a promising football player. He is considered a potential player for Feyenoord or Sparta, but a serious injury ends that path and leads him toward production instead. His Rotterdam background is part of the image around his working style, which is described as disciplined and focused.
Productions and collaborations
He teams up with Peter Gelderblom, a club and shop owner as well as DJ and producer from Rotterdam. Together they release tracks including Strike Me Down on Wally Lopez’s La Factoria Records and You Make Me Climb The Wall on Sander Kleinenberg’s Little Mountain Recordings. The pair also remix material for Danny Tenaglia, Tom Stephan, D. Ramirez and Mark Knight.
In 2004, Amesz meets the team at Extrema Music in Holland, which leads to releases that introduce his newer sound. These include his first EP on Deep Focus, Courisha, and I Like Sex. Other records that help establish his style include I’ve Been Away on Lowriders Records and I’m Your Doctor on Nu Republic, which brings his sound to a wider audience in 2005. He also releases Back into the Funk on Sander Kleinenberg’s Little Mountain imprint.
Labels and later work
His releases also appear on La Factoria, Stereo Productions, Extrema, DK Records and Deep Records. He has remixes associated with Nic Fanciulli, Jamie Anderson, Muzzaik, Lexicon Avenue and Mark Knight. He also establishes the label 25 Hertz Recordings.
Other projects
Amesz is also part of Underground Movement, DJ Denniz & DJ Amesz, and Mühle & Amesz. His work is tagged across house and EDM, with techno also associated with his name.
