Regan is a name used by two separate singer-songwriters. One is Regan, pronounced “ray-gun”, a Virginia-based artist who begins her musical career at 14 as the lead singer of a popular Richmond band before developing a solo career. Her music combines rock, pop and acoustic elements, with a focus on original songs and lyrics. She is often compared with Sheryl Crow, Edie Brickell, Rickie Lee Jones and Björk, although her work is described as distinct in style and voice.

Solo releases and recognition

Her debut solo recording, First Breath, is produced by Regan and appears in late September 2000. It reaches the No. 1 selling CD spot in the pop/rock category on MP3.com for more than 12 weeks and also reaches No. 1 across the site on multiple occasions. The single Today, from the same release, reaches No. 1 among 70,000 songs on GarageBand.com in June 2001 and is ranked No. 9 overall. Her second album, Coming Or Going?, appears in July 2002 and features strong songwriting and performances by East Coast musicians.

Collaborators and distribution

Coming Or Going? is produced in part by Wayne Pooley and Doug Derryberry, both associated with Bruce Hornsby, along with Stewart Myers. The album also features members of Agents Of Good Roots, two musicians who also appear on Jason Mraz’s Waiting For My Rocket To Come, as well as players from the Bruce Hornsby Band and Butch Taylor, who is a touring keyboardist with the Dave Matthews Band. The release is distributed nationally through Red Eye Distribution.

Regan Graverson

The other artist using the name is regan, pronounced “reh-gun”, whose full name is Regan Graverson. She is a singer-songwriter from Nashville and releases the EP Lone Lily in 2008. Her influences include Patty Griffin, Ryan Adams and Gillian Welch.
