Red Seas Fire
Red Seas Fire is a technical metal group from the United Kingdom, formed in Bristol in 2007 by guitarist Peter “PeteyG” Graves. The band develops from the British progressive metal scene and is associated with djent, progressive metal and progressive styles.
Line-up and changes
The original line-up includes Robin Adams on vocals, Adam “Nolly” Getgood on lead guitar, Leo Dorsz on bass and Sam Gates on drums, alongside Graves. In 2012, Getgood and Gates leave the band. Getgood moves on to Periphery as a full-time bassist, and Graves takes over all guitar parts rather than replacing him with another lead guitarist. Jake Fogarty later joins on drums, while Dorsz leaves shortly before the recording of the second EP and the bass position remains open.
Releases
The band releases its self-titled debut album in 2011 as a free download from its official website. It then works on a planned set of three EPs intended to be collected into a full album titled Mise en Scene. The first of these, Exposition, appears in 2013, followed by Confrontation.
Musical style
Red Seas Fire describes its music as a combination of heavy metal precision, progressive sensibilities, strong melody lines and ambient electronic soundscapes. The group’s stated aim is to blend these elements into a dense and varied sound.
