Red Fang
Red Fang is a rock band from Portland, Oregon, formed in 2005 and active since then. The group consists of Bryan Giles on guitar and vocals, Aaron Beam on bass and vocals, David Sullivan on guitar and John Sherman on drums. Its sound is associated with grunge, hard rock, metal, rock, sludge metal and stoner metal.
Albums and releases
The band releases five studio albums: Red Fang (2009), Murder the Mountains (2011), Whales and Leeches (2013), Only Ghosts (2016) and Arrows (2021). It begins on Wantage USA Records in Montana with its self-titled LP. The 2009 debut for Sargent House/Wantage USA combines the band’s first two limited-release EPs. Murder the Mountains appears on Relapse Records and is produced by Chris Funk.
Live work and appearances
Red Fang appears on the 2011 Metalliance tour with Crowbar and Helmet, and also opens the Jägermeister stage at the 2011 Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival alongside headliners including Megadeth, Godsmack and Disturbed. In 2011 it is announced as one of the openers for Mastodon’s 2011 and 2012 tours in the United States and Europe, alongside The Dillinger Escape Plan. The following year it heads out on a European tour with Black Tusk and plays in countries including Russia, Ukraine and Greece for the first time. In 2013 it performs at the Australian Soundwave Festival and also plays sideshows with Kyuss Lives! and Orange Goblin. In 2014 it appears on Late Show with David Letterman, with Paul Shaffer sitting in on organ for “Blood Like Cream”. Later that year it is announced as an opening act for Opeth and In Flames on a North American tour.
Other appearances
In 2016 the band’s music features in the pinball machine The Pabst Can Crusher from WhizBang Pinball and Stern Pinball, which is themed around Pabst Blue Ribbon and includes the band on the backglass art.
