Rebuke

Rebuke is a melodic punk and hardcore band from Gothenburg, Sweden, active since 2003. Their sound is rooted in mid-1990s Californian punk rock, with hardcore and metal riff elements added to create a faster, heavier style. The band writes about subjects ranging from politics to personal experience, and its lyrics are described as matching the music closely.

Line-up and development

Rebuke begins as a trio and later adds a new drummer and a second guitarist in early 2008. In 2009 the band plays one tour of Europe and another in the UK, which it credits with improving its performance. In 2010 it signs with Kickass Records in Belgium and Disconnect Disconnect Records in the UK.

Releases and style

Over the years Rebuke issues a range of DIY releases. The album Wouldworks stands out as a high point for the band in both performance and sound. Its music combines speedy drumming, catchy hooks and heavy riffs, and it remains identified with skate punk, melodic hardcore and punk rock.

RebUke

RebUke is also the name of a politically focused solo project by Descendents singer Milo Aukerman, started in 2020. Its debut single, 45…not a LP, includes three songs originally intended for the Descendents album 9th & Walnut and is recorded by Aukerman alone using ukuleles and percussion instruments.
