Razika

Razika are a Norwegian indie pop group from Møhlenpris, Norway, active from 2006 to 2019. The line-up consists of Marie Amdam, Embla Karidotter, Marie Moe and Maria Råkil. The group is associated with the Norwegian indie scene and sings mainly in Norwegian, including a marked Nynorsk dialect linked to Møhlenpris.

Style and background

The band’s sound combines indie pop and indie rock with ska, punk and reggae two-tone influences. Their later work also moves towards synth-pop, alongside the hypnagogic pop, pop and third wave ska labels attached to their music. They are an all-female group from Bergen, and their music is closely tied to that city’s scene.

Recordings

Razika record their debut album Program 91 over the course of a year, working on weekends. They sign to Smalltown Supersound in 2010. The group releases Program 91, På vei hjem, Ut til de andre and Sånn Kjennes Verden Ut. The last of these shows a more synth-pop direction than their earlier albums.

Split

The band announces in 2019 that it will split after its summer tour.
