Rah Rah

Rah Rah is a Canadian indie rock band from Regina, Saskatchewan, active since 2005. The group is centred on Marshall Burns and Erin Passmore, and its sound combines indie rock with keyboards, violins and other layered arrangements.

The band builds songs and stories, and early descriptions of its work emphasise strong melodies and a vivid, narrative approach. Rah Rah’s first full-length album, Going Steady, appears in 2008 on Young Soul Records. It receives support from Canadian college radio and CBC radio.

Rah Rah also plays widely on the Canadian live circuit. The band shares bills with acts including DD/MM/YYYY, Library Voices, Holy Fuck, Elliott Brood, Wintersleep, Mother Mother, Malajube, Rural Alberta Advantage, Hot Springs, Sunparlour Players, Sylvie and Lovely Feathers. Festival appearances include the Regina Folk Festival, Pop Montreal and NXNE.

By 2009 the band completes three Canadian tours and records a new album in Montreal with Kees Dekker. The line-up listed for the group includes Erin Passmore, Marshall Burns, Joel Passmore, Kristina Hedlund, Jeffrey Romanyk, Leif Thorseth and Dan Crozier, with roles spanning vocals, drums, guitar, bass, violin, accordion and keys.
