Pyrates!

Pyrates! is a folk rock group from the Netherlands that performs pirate-themed acoustic folk music. The band presents itself in full pirate costume and uses guitar, bass, drums and fiddle.

The group draws on a range of traditional material associated with the sea and with folk performance, including sea shanties, songs of the sea, bawdy ballads, jaunty jigs, Irish ditties, drinking songs and a cappella folk tunes. Its repertoire also includes well-known folk tunes that it reworks in its own pirate style.

Pyrates! performs in the United Kingdom and in other countries, and its material is rooted in the imagery and language of seafaring and pirate life.
