Promise

Promise is a name used by several different acts, including a Canadian hip-hop artist, a straight-edge hardcore band from Syracuse, a UK soul/jazz/funk group, a singer-songwriter from Antigua, a Hungarian acoustic band and a Boulder, Colorado-area pop band.

Canadian hip-hop artist

Promise Shepherd is a Canadian hip-hop artist whose work centres on conceptual songwriting and lyrics about life, love and the consciousness of mankind. He is known for the online mixtapes Kanye West Presents Promise Vol. 1 and Vol. 2. His debut studio LP, More Than Music, is released in August 2008 and is received with critical acclaim.

Straight-edge hardcore band

Another Promise is a straight-edge hardcore band from Syracuse, New York. The band exists from 2001 to 2005 and releases a full-length album, Believer, on Indecision Records.

UK soul/jazz/funk group

A third Promise is a UK soul, jazz and funk band. This group releases the album Strange Bird in 1995 on BoogieBack Records.

Singer-songwriter from Antigua

There is also a singer-songwriter from Antigua who releases the album All of Me in 2003.

Hungarian band

One Promise is a Hungarian band active from 1991 to 2006. It is formed at the Lutheran Theology and plays acoustic music, with lyrics mainly based on Hungarian poems. The line-up includes Aradi András on cello; Aradi György on bass and vocals; Baranyay Csaba on guitar and vocals; Huszák Zsolt on guitar and vocals; Noszticzius Vilmos on keys, percussion and vocals; Smidéliusz András on guitar and vocals; and Smidéliusz Gábor on guitar and lead vocals.

Boulder-area pop band

Another Promise is a Boulder, Colorado-area band whose eponymous debut is issued in 1980 on its own Cumulus label. The album is described as melodic, beatific pop with jangling guitars and crunchy arrangements.
