Plattenbau

Plattenbau is an industrial and synthwave project based in California, formed by Oakland musicians Dustin Khebzou and Megan Biscieglia. The duo combine bleak industrial soundscapes with cold synthesizers, pulsing rhythms, lush vocal arrangements and disco influences, creating music that shifts between celestial melody and a tense, uneasy atmosphere.

Project line-up and style

The act is built around Khebzou and Biscieglia as a Northern California duo. Their sound draws on industrial music and synthwave, with the arrangement often balancing percussion-heavy tracks against layered vocals and electronic textures.

Earlier band name usage

The name also appears in connection with an earlier Berlin-based indie rock trio active under the same name. That group features Hans Tobias on guitar and vocals, Lewis Lloyd on bass and vocals, and Brandon Walsh on drums, and is described as working from the former Stasi headquarters in Berlin. It releases music that mixes noise-pop and post-punk.

Releases

The Berlin trio releases three EPs and one album: Squares Squares in 2012, Demos 2015 in 2015, EP in 2015, and PLATTENBAU in 2016.
