Pierce Brothers are an Australian indie-folk duo from Melbourne. They begin as street buskers, playing in Bourke Street Mall before building a live following through touring and independent releases. The act functions entirely independently, without a major label, and develops a reputation for a DIY approach to releasing and selling music.

Career

The duo move from busking to playing a record-breaking run of five sold-out shows at Melbourne’s Shebeen. They then expand overseas, selling out shows in London and performing to more than 10,000 people at Lowlands Festival in the Netherlands. While there, they are invited to open the festival on 3FM Radio, where they perform a version of Lorde’s Tennis Court that includes a didgeridoo solo and a Calvin Harris sing-along.

Their EP The Night Tree reaches number one on the AIR Album chart and number 21 on the ARIA Album Chart. The duo also sell over 25,000 CDs and are featured in NME. Their live schedule includes appearances at AWME, Big Sound, Caloundra Music Festival and Gorgeous Fest.
