Picture Book

Picture Book is a British group active since 2008. The project centres on brothers Dario Darnell and Lorne Ashley, who are born in New York City and raised in Manchester, UK. They later base themselves in Liverpool while attending university and continue to write, record and perform there.

Their family background is closely tied to music: their father is August Darnell, the lead singer and bandleader of Kid Creole & The Coconuts. Picture Book develops an electronic dance sound that draws on new wave, dance, house, electronic and synthpop influences.

In performance, the group plays multiple instruments, often at the same time, as part of a live setup intended to create a varied and memorable show. Alongside their own project, they also contribute skills to the work of other artists.
