Phantasmagoria

Phantasmagoria is a Japanese visual kei rock band from Osaka, Japan. It forms in November 2004 and is active until 2010. The group is associated with metal, rock and visual kei, and releases on UNDER CODE PRODUCTION. Its line-up includes KISAKI and JUN.

Career

The band forms in November 2004 under the direction of KISAKI, who runs Under Code Production. Its first single, Material Pain, appears in Shoxx magazine in December 2004, and the following day the group releases its first maxi-single, Moonlight Revival. Around one month after forming, the band appears on the cover of the visual kei magazine Cure, becoming one of the faster-rising independent acts to feature there.

Phantasmagoria plays its first concerts in the United States in October 2005 at Oni-con in Houston, Texas, and later gives its first Japanese one-man show on 26 March. In 2007, guitarist Iori and drummer Matoi leave the band. KISAKI then announces his retirement and says the band is sealing. Further announcements include a first and last fan trip, plus final event and final one-man tours. KISAKI later retires from the active visual kei scene in August 2007 but continues running his label and producing music.

The band performs at Hide Memorial Summit in May 2008. It resumes activities for a limited time at the end of 2009, then releases the singles Diamond Dust and Seeds of Brain in 2010 before disbanding.

Later projects

After Phantasmagoria, JUN has a solo project called attic, where he sings and writes music, and later works with Iori in Spiv States. Riku is also mentioned as the vocalist for KISAKI's later project 凛 -the end of corruption world-.
