Petr Kalandra

Petr Kalandra is a Czech blues musician from Praha. He is a guitarist, harmonica player and composer, and he is regarded as one of the best-known figures in Czech blues. He dies in 1995.

Career

He spends part of his childhood in Tunisia, France and the USA with his parents, and this experience later shapes his music. During the 1970s he plays with several Czech musicians, including Zuzana Michnová, Jaroslav Hutka, Vladimír Merta, Jan Hrubý and Vladimír Mišík.

In 1973 he starts playing with the band Marsyas. He marries in 1975. In 1984 he leaves Marsyas and joins the trio A.S.P.M. From 1991 until his death he plays with Blues Sessions.

Work and reputation

He also works as a studio musician and records a number of film songs, including music for Tankový prapor. His output includes both band work and session playing, and he is associated with Marsyas, A.S.P.M. and Blues Session.
