Peggy Sue

Peggy Sue is a Brighton, United Kingdom-based indie folk band active since 2005. The group works in a mix of blues, folk and rockabilly, and its line-up includes Katy Klaw, Rosa Rex, Rosa Slade, Tenderness and Katy Young.

History

The band forms in Brighton and later shortens its name from Peggy Sue & the Pirates to Peggy Sue in June 2008. Before that change, it also uses the names Peggy Sue & the Pictures and Peggy Sue and the Pictures, the latter appearing when it merges with Left With Pictures for the Body Parts EP in 2008. It also records under the name Peggy Sue & Les Triplettes.

Releases and label history

In April 2009, the band signs to US label Yep Roc Records, which issues Body Parts EP as a complimentary release. Later in 2009, it signs to Wichita Recordings, which announces the band’s debut album, Fossils and Other Phantoms, for release in 2010.

Tours and associations

Peggy Sue tours in the UK with artists including Kate Nash, The Maccabees and Mumford & Sons. The band is associated with the British indie folk scene and remains active.
