Paranoid Visions

Paranoid Visions are a punk group from Dublin formed in 1982. They emerge from the 1980s Dublin gig scene, where they stand apart from many other Irish bands of the period. The line-up includes Deko Dachau, Aoife Destruction and P.A.

Style and approach

The band work in punk and anarcho-punk, with a strong independent position outside mainstream industry norms. They keep close control of their output and license their material directly through their F.O.A.D label.

Releases and recognition

Paranoid Visions release records that gain critical attention and strong sales in Ireland and the UK. Among their better-known recordings are Autonomy, Schizophrenia and City of Screams. The I Will Wallow 10-inch EP brings them to a wider audience through its attack on the Irish music industry’s U2Clone assembly line.

After ceasing to perform in 1992, the band never officially split and returns on several occasions over the following years. They play dates supporting the Sex Pistols on the Filthy Lucre tour in 1996, appear with the Damned on their 25th anniversary tour in 2001, and return again in 2005 in support of the back catalogue release Outside In.

Later activity

Following the success of Outside In, the band release the rest of their back catalogue in 2006. In December of that year they issue Missing in Action, their first new material in 16 years. The EP is repressed several times and is also sold through iTunes. In 2007 they release 40 Shades of Gangreen, their first new album since 1990. The album includes Missing in Action, Forever Winter, Rock n’ Roll n’ Revolution, AIDS, Wearside Jack, Acts of Love, 9 Months to the Disco and the title track, which is presented as their answer to the Sex Pistols’ God Save the Queen.
