Pain

Pain is a Swedish industrial metal group from Ludvika, active since 1996. It begins as a solo project for Peter Tägtgren, who creates it as a way to write music that draws on heavy metal and electronic influences without changing his work with Hypocrisy. Tägtgren remains the central figure in the project, and the band is described as his creative outlet as a musician, producer and frontman.

Style and formation

The project starts in 1996 with a self-titled debut release. Its sound combines metal with electronic elements and sits within industrial metal and alternative metal. Tägtgren also works as a producer with acts including Celtic Frost, Children Of Bodom, Dimmu Borgir and Immortal, and Pain reflects his interest in pushing different sounds alongside his main band work.

Releases and activity

Pain issues eight albums and two DVDs in addition to its debut release. Among the later releases mentioned is Psalms Of Extinction. Although Tägtgren is presented as the only official member, the group is also listed with Jonathan Olsson, André Skaug, Sebastian Svalland and Sebastian Tägtgren among its members.
