OVERGROW

OVERGROW is a project formed by Jake Ciccotelli in 2018. It begins as a solo outlet and later develops into a full band with longtime friends. The group releases three EPs through Common Ground Collective before issuing its debut album, Walls of Mirrors.

Line-up

The current line-up features Jake Ciccotelli with guitarist Alec Mackowiak, drummer Jon Clark and bassist Alex Miller.

Debut album

Walls of Mirrors is written while the present line-up settles into place. The album grows out of a period in which Jake steps away from a renewed record contract and ends a booking arrangement, creating a clear reset for the project. Its title comes from the earliest songs written for the record and reflects themes of confrontation, introspection, moving on and starting again.

Style and themes

OVERGROW works in emo, indie, post-hardcore, alternative and pop punk. Its sound is described through expansive guitar parts and wide-panned storytelling, with a focus on self-analysis and emotionally direct songwriting. The project draws inspiration from Phoebe Bridgers and Gleemer.

Jake describes the album as a response to uncertainty, aiming to make a record that feels decisive and personal while keeping the project moving forward.
