Orval Carlos Sibelius is the alias of Paris-based French musician Axel Monneau. He releases psychedelic pop with melodic, spacey and folk-influenced elements, and is also associated with ambient and clapping music.
His release Recovery Tapes is followed two years later by Super Forma, a record described as a more fully realised example of his style. It begins with a track that sets out a cosmic, exploratory mood, and the album combines a folk-based framework with broader psychedelic arrangements. The music draws on 1960s pop and rock references, including echoes of the Beatles, Bowie and Pink Floyd, while turning those influences into a distinctive, refined sound. The track “Desintegraçao” is singled out as a key example of this approach.
