OFWGKTA

OFWGKTA, short for Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All, is a hip-hop collective from Los Angeles, California, formed by Tyler, The Creator in 2007. It is commonly known as Odd Future, OF, Wolf Gang, Golf Wang, and other names. The group is associated with dark, violent and offensive lyrics, energetic live performances, and an anti-establishment attitude. It is often labelled horrorcore, although the collective distances itself from that tag and is more usually described as alternative or indie hip-hop.

Releases

The collective releases music both together and through its individual members and related sub-groups. Its group releases include two mixtapes, one compilation album and one studio album. The debut mixtape, The Odd Future Tape, appears in November 2008 as a free download through the group’s blog. It is recorded using only a computer camera microphone and includes tracks that later appear on Tyler, The Creator’s album Bastard. The Radical follows in 2010 and features the group’s original members apart from Casey Veggies, who has left the collective, alongside newer contributors Earl Sweatshirt, Domo Genesis, Mike G and Taco Bennett. The compilation album 12 Odd Future Songs appears in 2011 and contains 13 tracks, drawing on songs from solo and sub-group releases, plus a new track by The Internet. The debut collaborative LP, The OF Tape Vol. 2, appears in 2012 on Odd Future Records.

Known current members include Tyler, The Creator, Hodgy Beats, Left Brain, Matt Martians, Hal Williams, Earl Sweatshirt, Domo Genesis, Mike G, Frank Ocean, Jasper Dolphin and Taco Bennett. Former members listed include Casey Veggies, brandUn DeShay and Syd. Related sub-groups include MellowHype, made up of Hodgy Beats and Left Brain; EarlWolf, Tyler, The Creator and Earl Sweatshirt; The Jet Age of Tomorrow, also called The Super 3, formed by Matt Martian and Hal Williams; I Smell Panties, with Tyler, The Creator and Jasper Dolphin; The Internet, with Syd Tha Kid and Matt Martian; and MellowHigh, with Domo Genesis and Hodgy Beats. The collective also includes other non-musical members.
