Nobodaddy

Nobodaddy is a London and Norfolk-based indie pop and folk group formed by childhood friends Mike Wordingham and Adam Clark. The pair start out as a duo in 2002, and later assemble a band in 2004 to record Nobodaddy’s Children, a release that does not appear to come out. The act is active from 2004 onwards.

Style and scene

Their songs are narrative-led and sit between indie pop, folk and alt-country. Their sound is described as drawing on the whimsy associated with Donovan, the emotional directness of Christy Moore and the alt-country approach of Wilco. They become part of the London indie and acoustic scenes.

Releases

Nobodaddy issue the Everybody Loves EP and also record early demos in a more stripped-down style, which remain central to their approach. Their first full-length album, There must be less to life than this, contains ten songs and moves across emotional territory from dark melancholy to fierce joy.

Approach

In their later work, the band focuses on writing songs about love and loss and performing them in a direct way that aims to bring out the heart of the material and the friendship between the two members.
