Noah Gundersen

Noah Gundersen is an American singer-songwriter from Olympia, Washington. He leads The Courage, also known as Noah Gundersen and The Courage, and is associated with Glorietta, Noah Gunderson & The Courage, and Young in the City.

Background

Gundersen has made music since childhood. He learns piano at a young age and later teaches himself guitar. As a teenager, he performs in cafés, sometimes with his younger sister, Abby Gundersen. The two begin producing music together in 2005.

Style and performance

His songs centre on lead vocals and combine poetic, lyrical writing with ambient string and percussion arrangements. His music is described as blending melancholy folk with electric euphoria, and it draws comparisons with Elijah Wyman, David Wilcox, and Damien Rice. He performs in settings ranging from small college basements to venues such as the Triple Door, the Crocodile Cafe, and the Columbia City Theater.

Releases

Gundersen and Abby Gundersen record most studio work themselves. Their releases include the Brand New World EP, the Live at The Triple Door live album, the Saints & Liars EP, Fearful Bones, and Family.
