Nimmo and the Gauntletts
Nimmo and the Gauntletts are a five-piece group from North West London, later known simply as Nimmo. They are led by Sarah Nimmo and Reva Gauntlett, who form the central songwriting duo and front the band as double lead vocalists. The group’s line-up and presentation combine an acoustic indie approach with a live band format.
Style and sound
Their music is described as a mixture of jazzy folk and indie songwriting, with a raw, direct feel and a focus on melody and emotional weight. They are also associated with indie, rock, pop, electronic and synthpop.
Live activity
The band performs as a five-piece, and their live shows are noted for the contrast between the two frontwomen and the full band arrangement. They play at established London venues including Big Chill House, Proud Galleries and the Rhythm Factory, and hold a residency at the Boogaloo in Highgate.
Support and recognition
Nimmo and the Gauntletts are represented by the Joe Strummer foundation, Strummerville, and are mentored by Emmy the Great. They are also described as a band to watch in the period around 2010, as they build towards wider live activity, including a UK tour and festival appearances after a single release.
