Night Shift

Night Shift is a Serbian hard rock band from Beograd, active since 1991. The group consists of Milan Šćepanović on guitar and vocals, Danijel Šćepanović on drums, and Branislav Vukobratović on bass and vocals. For a period in the 1990s, the band also includes Igor on keyboards, who later leaves the line-up.

Formation and early years

The band members are closely connected from childhood. Milan meets Danijel at birth, and later meets Branislav in kindergarten when he is three years old. The three remain together for much of their lives and begin performing in Zemun, where their first concert takes place in an elementary school on 11 January 1991. Their early set includes five songs.

By the autumn of 1993, Night Shift is playing regularly in Zemun clubs, including appearances at a jazz club called Magnum and a rock club named Dunav-Fest. The group performs in venues across Yugoslavia from 1993 to 1998. At this time, the members are still underage, while the clubs restrict entry to minors.

Recording and releases

During 1999 and 2000, the band tours extensively and adds a regular sound engineer and light engineer to improve its live presentation. In 2001, after its tenth anniversary, the group decides to record an album. This leads to Undercovers, released in 2002.

In 2009, Night Shift releases the multimedia album No cover. The release includes a video for the opening track “Snovi”, which becomes a number one hit on MTV Serbia, MTV Croatia and MTV Slovenia. The video is described as the most expensive in Serbian and Yugoslavian history.
