Nigel

Nigel is a Kenyan solo artist. The project begins as friends jamming in a band room in 2003, and it starts performing live in May 2004. It records Songs About Things in March and April 2004, followed by a six-song self-titled EP recorded in April 2006 at The Panic Button.

Style and activity

The music is described as indie, power pop, alternative rock and rock, and the artist is also associated with acoustic material. Live appearances are infrequent by choice. The setlist consists mainly of original songs, with cover versions of less obvious songs placed in the repertoire as well. These include “Tyler” by the Toadies, “On a Plain” by Nirvana, “Overkill” by Men at Work, “Hummer” by Smashing Pumpkins and “Hey Johnny Park!” by Foo Fighters.

Release history

Songs About Things and the self-titled EP are the named recordings associated with Nigel. The EP is sold at shows and online.

Live performance

Nigel gives concerts only occasionally, and the project presents this as a deliberate approach to avoid routine. The available information also suggests that performances are irregular enough that each appearance is treated as uncertain.
