Nigel Watson
Nigel Watson is a British guitarist from the United Kingdom, born in 1947 and died in 2019. He is best known for his work with former Fleetwood Mac guitarist Peter Green.
Work with Peter Green
After Peter Green leaves Fleetwood Mac in 1970, Watson works with him on two solo singles, Heavy Heart and Beasts of Burden, with the latter credited to both musicians. Watson also accompanies Green as a conga player on Fleetwood Mac’s United States tour in February 1971, when Jeremy Spencer has already left the band and Green is asked to help fulfil their touring commitments. At that time, Watson is the brother-in-law of Fleetwood Mac’s manager Clifford Davis.
Peter Green Splinter Group
Watson and Green begin working together again in 1996. Watson is influential in persuading Green to return to music after several years of inactivity. They form the Peter Green Splinter Group, which releases several albums over the next few years before splitting in 2004. In live performance, Watson provides an additional focal point on stage, singing as well as playing lead guitar, and he also composes many of the songs recorded for the group’s albums.
