Nickless

Nickless is a Swiss singer-songwriter from Zürich, born in 1996. He emerges as a solo artist with a background in drums, piano and guitar, and his music draws on pop as well as rock, folk, funk and electro influences.

He starts playing drums at the age of seven. By the age of eight, he learns piano and guitar with a music coach and begins performing in a band. At 12, he plays drums in the teen band Klirrfaktor and wins local talent competitions. At 15, he begins working as an assistant at 571 Recording Studios, owned by Thomas Fessler, after knocking on its door and later continuing there after finishing school. That studio environment becomes an important part of his development as an artist and as a recording engineer.

Nickless releases his debut single, “Waiting,” which becomes a hit and is the most played song by a Swiss artist on radio in 2015. The accompanying video passes 700,000 views on YouTube and the single receives gold status. In 2016, he wins the Swiss Music Award for Best Hit National for “Waiting.”

His debut album, Four Years, is released through Phonag Records AG. The title refers to the four-year period over which he writes the album’s 12 songs. Thomas Fessler produces the record, and Nickless writes all of the songs himself. The album reflects personal themes including love, friendship, disappointment and the freer side of youth.

He is described as a musician who moves from being a studio assistant and drummer to a front-facing solo act, and he performs with a band on stage.
