New Politics
New Politics are an alt rock group from Copenhagen, Denmark, active since 2009. The current line-up is David Boyd, Søren Hansen and Louis Vecchio. A former member, Poul Amaliel, is also listed.
Background
David Boyd and Søren Hansen spend more than three years writing songs together before they realise they have effectively started a band. The pair work on material intended for separate solo albums, but the process develops into a shared project. They experiment with a wide range of styles and build up a large body of songs together before settling on the band’s sound.
Style and performance
The group’s music is described as alternative-dance-rock, with beat-driven songs and a strong live emphasis. Hansen’s role includes high-energy stage performances, while Boyd is noted for breakdancing onstage.
