New Electric Ride

New Electric Ride is an indie rock and psychedelic group from Sunderland, United Kingdom, active since 2011. The band comes together out of the remains of a pub-rock project in north-east England and quickly builds a live and recording profile after forming.

Early releases and recording

The group releases a self-titled debut EP, which helps establish their sound and brings them regular radio play in the UK and across parts of Europe. They also record for the Black Cab Sessions series, adding to their early visibility.

Album Balloon Age

New Electric Ride’s full-length debut, Balloon Age, appears on Beyond Beyond is Beyond Records. The album is released in 2014 and is produced by Adam Cole. It is mastered by Fran Ashcroft at Whitby Studios. The record is credited to Jack Briggs, Adam Cole, Paul Nelson and Craig Oxberry. Artwork is by Jack Briggs, with additional artwork by Alan Mills Jr and Camila Leme.

The album includes “Here Comes the Bloom”, “Marquis De Sade”, “Bye Bye (Baton Rouge)” and “I Feel So Invited”.

Style and performances

The group’s music is described through melody-driven psychedelic and indie rock, with close harmonies, prominent hooks and a strong focus on songcraft. Their early live activity includes appearances across Europe, as well as an opening slot for The Pretty Things. They are also linked with Berlin Psych Fest in the 2014 line-up.
