It begins as Palomo’s recording project and becomes a band with a live lineup that includes Ronald Gierhart on guitar and vocals, Jason Faries on drums, and Leanne Macomber on keyboard.
Albums and recordings
The group releases three studio albums: Psychic Chasms in 2009, Era Extraña in 2011, and VEGA INTL. Night School in 2015. Psychic Chasms is the debut LP, and its release follows a period in which several songs posted online draw attention from music blogs and websites.
Reception and recognition
Neon Indian gains wider notice in 2009 after online tracks receive favourable blog coverage. Pitchfork Media includes two songs from Psychic Chasms in its list of the Top 100 Tracks of 2009: “Should Have Taken Acid With You” at number 74 and “Deadbeat Summer” at number 13.
Collaborations and related work
Alongside Neon Indian, Palomo has an established connection with VEGA and Ghosthustler. Before Psychic Chasms appears, he says he plans another album under the VEGA name. The group also records a few tracks with Emma Bunton, with the release and placement of those recordings left open in the available information.
