Natalie Prass is an American singer-songwriter from Richmond, Virginia, who is also associated with Cleveland, Virginia Beach and Nashville. Born Natalie Jean Prass, she studies music and visual art throughout high school, then attends Berklee in Boston for a year before leaving and returning to the Virginia coast.

She performs on the boardwalk club circuit before moving to Nashville, where she develops her songwriting and performance style over several years and builds a reputation for distinctive live shows and a strong voice. Her background includes an interest in alternative beach culture and a period of living close to the Atlantic Ocean.

Recording and collaborations

For her debut full-length recording, Prass returns to Virginia and works with Spacebomb Records. The label’s attic studio and production approach suit her material, and the project is shaped with Matthew E. White, whom she knows from playing in rock bands with him in high school. Together they select nine tracks and record them through Spacebomb’s system.

Her debut set includes a reggae performance at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, where she appears in front of an Isaac Hayes poster she has placed behind the band. Her work is described through the qualities of a songwriter and performer, with an emphasis on melodic writing, carefully considered phrasing and romantic themes.
