N-Joi

N-Joi

N-Joi are a house music and techno production duo from Essex, England. The group consists of Nigel Champion and Mark Franklin, with Saffron appearing at times as a vocalist and front person. Active since 1985, they work in dance music and are associated with the rave era and 1990s club culture.

Chart success

Between 1991 and 1996, N-Joi appear on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart five times, and all five entries reach the Top 10. Two of those releases reach number one: “Mindflux” in 1992 and “The New Anthem” in 1996. “The New Anthem” is a new version of their debut single “Anthem”, which reaches the Top 5 on the dance chart in 1991.

UK singles chart entries

The group also records several UK singles chart hits. These include the Adrenaline EP, which reaches number 23 in 1991; “Anthem”, which reaches number 8 in 1991; “Live in Manchester (Parts 1 and 2)”, which reaches number 12 in 1992; and The Drumstruck EP, which reaches number 33 in 1992.

Later activity

In 2006, N-Joi return to the Official UK Dance Chart with remixes of “Anthem”. They later reform as a three-piece and play regular club dates in the UK, as well as live festival sets.
