Munich
Munich is a Brighton indie five-piece group that writes guitar-based music. The band was formerly known as Munk.
Career
The group releases its debut EP, Where Are You Now, in 2010 through MaDa Music with Universal distribution. It then plays sold-out shows in Brighton and London and builds radio and press support from XFM’s John Kennedy, BBC Introducing Sussex, Source and Q Magazine. Over time it adds three further releases and tours the UK, including headline runs for All Sussed Out, Into The Rain and the free download Just Like You.
Live work and festivals
Munich supports Bombay Bicycle Club, Mona, Chapel Club and Graham Coxon. It also appears at festivals including The Great Escape, Glastonbury and Ben & Jerry’s Sundae.
Style
The band is described as making bold, anthemic indie music. It is also associated with live performances across several European countries, and its sound is compared with Low, Mogwai and Sigur Rós.
Other notes
Munich appears alongside several other acts with the same name, but this group is the Brighton band.
