Moritz

Moritz is a Swiss AOR and hard rock act that forms in London in 1986. It is associated with classic rock, melodic rock and pomp rock, and is known for a British 1980s AOR sound.

History

The group first appears with the debut EP Can’t Stop Loving You, which includes the lead track used in a promo video filmed in 1987 in London’s East End. That video helps the EP sell out, and original vinyl copies later circulate at high prices online. The band then releases City Streets, which becomes a notable part of its catalogue.

Reformation and later work

After a long break, all six original members reform in 2009 for the first time in 21 years. This reunion leads to the album Undivided, released in 2010. The album marks the return of the original line-up and extends the band’s AOR profile.

Style and reputation

Moritz is identified with true AOR rock and is described as a UK example of the style, despite its Swiss origin in the available record. Its catalogue centres on melodic hard rock and 1980s AOR sounds.
