Mondo Cane

Mondo Cane is an Italian noise band from Treviso. It is a group name used for several different acts, including a Mike Patton project and other unrelated bands from southern Italy, Halifax in the UK, the Netherlands and the United States.

The Mike Patton-associated Mondo Cane project features Patton with a 40-piece orchestra, a 15-piece band and choir. It focuses on covers of Italian pop songs from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, and also includes a version of Ennio Morricone’s “Deep Down”. The arrangements are by Patton and Daniele Luppi, an Italian film music composer. The recordings come from a series of live performances in Europe, including a show in an outdoor piazza in northern Italy.
