Missarioty

Missarioty is a UK rock group that forms in 2011 and moves from an acoustic duo into a four-piece indie and alternative rock band. The original line-up begins with vocalist and guitarist Molly Edgar and lead guitarist Kristian Johnstone, performing locally with two acoustic guitars before the sound expands with the addition of drummer Ryan Galea. Bassist Peter Schofield takes over in early 2012, replacing an earlier bassist, and the band develops its full line-up from that point.

The group describes its style as rooted and original, and it builds a local following through regular gigs and free distribution of recordings. Its debut EP, It's Never Too Late For Cowbell, is recorded in its home town and made available as a free download. The band also hands out free CDs at shows, which helps it draw audiences from across the county.

In 2012, Missarioty shares stages with acts including The King Blues and The Gallows, and performs at a festival appearance alongside Lower Than Atlantis and Zane Lowe. It wins Blackpool’s Battle of the Bands after travelling outside Cumbria for the first time, beating 14 other bands and gaining further studio recording time. The group also plays the Liverpool O2 Academy, then returns there for another showcase arranged through JAR Music Live, with an opportunity to play for record labels and the press.

Later in 2012, the band partners with a promotions company in the North East and tours that area. In January 2013, it records a three-track live demo at RHMG Studios in Blackpool and headlines a sold-out charity event there. It is also invited to appear on BBC Introducing for BBC Radio Cumbria.
