Miniature Dinosaurs
Miniature Dinosaurs are a rock and pop band from Stirling, Scotland. The group is active from 2009 to 2014 and is made up of Barry Maclean on vocals and guitar, Alban Dickson on bass guitar, Craig Ferrie on guitar and keys, and Sam Waller on drums.
Background and style
The band’s music is compared with artists including David Bowie, The Killers, Pulp and Weezer. They are signed to Integrity Records Ltd and later sign to UK independent label Integrity Records.
Career highlights
In March 2009, the track (I Want To Watch) Top Gear features on BBC Radio 1, giving the band national airplay before their first gig. They then support acts including Fenech-Soler, Johnny Foreigner and Young the Giant.
In 2010, the band announces a clothing endorsement with Police-883, described as the first endorsement of its kind by that fashion company. That same year, several of their tracks appear in the MTV drama Being Victor.
The 2011 single Fight or Flight is released by Electric Honey as a 7-inch vinyl record. In 2012, Miniature Dinosaurs are nominated for Best Live Act at the Scottish Alternative Music Awards. In 2013, the single Lemonade is played by Steve Lamacq on 6 Music and on regional radio stations, followed by the Turn It On EP.
