Million Way
Million Way is a Detroit, United States funk and R&B group. The act is made up of Valdez Brantley, John Brooks, Cortez Harris, Al Hudson, Kevin McCord, Corky Meadows and Alicia Myers.
Style and background
The group is also described as a live electro and house trio in a wider performance context, with music drawing on electro, house, fidget, techno, booty and acid. Its set-up is built around live production, drums, bass, synths and performance elements rather than conventional song structure, and the group is noted for a high-energy approach aimed at dancefloors.
Performance history
Million Way has built a live reputation through regular headline shows around Bristol and through appearances on the UK festival and gig circuit. The group’s members have also performed over the years under a range of other names and projects, including Heritage Orchestra, Smerins Anti Social Club, Burly Chassis, Contraband, Alchemy Quartet, Ratfinks and Beggar Joe. Their live experience includes slots at Glastonbury, Shambala, Larmer Tree, Wychwood, Beautiful Days and Bloom, as well as shows in London and the South West.
Recordings and radio play
The group’s self-titled debut EP includes the tracks “Daft Pop” and “Fidge”, which receive play on BBC Radio 1 and BBC Bristol. The act is also associated with an emphasis on club-ready material and a dance-focused sound shaped by influences including Daft Punk, Kraftwerk, Orbital, Luke Vibert, Plump DJs and Drexciya.
