Mike Servito

Mike Servito is a DJ based between Detroit and New York City. He is associated with techno and electronic music, and he is part of Ghostly’s DJ roster. His style is shaped by Detroit radio in the 1980s and the city’s local DJs in the 1990s, and his work is closely identified with the Detroit scene.

Career

Servito begins DJing in 1995 and quickly gains attention and respect from his peers and local techno figures. After a short break, he returns to DJing in 2002, encouraged by his friend Magda. On his return, he develops a renewed approach, drawing inspiration from a newer generation of electronic music producers and DJs.

He is known for seamless transitions across different styles, and for an unpredictable approach grounded in a wide knowledge of music. This helps build a strong following and makes him an in-demand DJ internationally.

Detroit connections and residencies

Servito is among the original residents of UNTITLED, alongside Matthew Dear, Derek Plaslaiko, Tadd Mullinix, and Ryan Elliott. He also plays multiple Detroit Electronic Music Festivals and shares bills with artists connected to labels including Bpitch Control, Perlon, Minus, Kompakt, and DFA, as well as Detroit labels and imprints such as Transmat, Planet E, UR, and Spectral Sound.

Ghostly

In 2008, Servito joins Ghostly’s DJ roster, and he continues to DJ and travel internationally with that association.
