Mike Lawrence

Mike Lawrence is a comedian and writer from the United Kingdom. He works in stand-up comedy and is also associated with nerd culture topics such as comic books, video games, television and film.

Comedy career

Lawrence is named one of the New Faces at Just for Laughs in 2010. He appears at the festival again in 2012, performing at both the Montreal and Chicago editions. In Montreal, he records a set for HBO Canada's Funny as Hell.

In 2011, he performs in Lance Bangs' Come Laugh With Us at the Birdgetown Comedy Festival alongside Kristen Schaal, Fred Armisen, Jon Daly and Brett Gelman. He also appears on John Oliver's New York Stand-Up Show with Hannibal Buress, Michael Ian Black and Hari Kondabolu, and later regularly opens for John Oliver.

Lawrence makes his first appearance on Conan O'Brien's Conan in 2012 and returns to the programme again in 2013. He also writes for and appears as a guest on W. Kamau Bell's show Totally Biased.

Recordings and writing

In 2013, Comedy Central Records releases his comedy album Sadamantium in connection with his half-hour special on The Half Hour. The album is recorded at the Nerdist Showroom at Meltdown Comics and receives positive reviews from The Huffington Post, The A.V. Club, America's Comedy and The Laugh Button.

He also writes a piece for The Huffington Post titled The Five Most Important Things I've Learned Doing Comedy in New York That I'd Pass on To Newer Comics.

Podcasting and other media

Lawrence hosts the Nerd of Mouth podcast with Jake Young on the New York City-based comedy podcast network Cave Comedy Radio. The show is published weekly and covers comic books, video games, TV shows and movies. Lawrence and the podcast are featured on an episode of Toy Hunter titled Nerd of Mouth in 2013.

He is also a guest on a wide range of podcasts, including You Know What Dude!, You Made It Weird, WTF, The Adam Carolla Show, Keith and The Girl, The K Ohle Show, Hollywood Handbook, The Artie Lange Show, What Say You? and What Do You Know?
