Mick Taylor

Mick Taylor is an English musician from Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, born in 1949. He is best known as a guitarist with John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers and The Rolling Stones, and he also has been associated with The Gods and The Juniors.

Career

He first comes to wider attention as a member of John Mayall's Bluesbreakers between 1966 and 1969. He then joins The Rolling Stones in 1969 and remains with the band until 1974. During that period, he appears on several of their key albums, including Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers and Goat's Head Soup. He leaves the band in December 1974.

After leaving the Rolling Stones, he works with a range of other artists and also records as a solo musician. He later performs with the Stones again in 2012.

Style and recognition

Taylor is associated with blues, blues rock, British blues, electric blues and rock. He is widely regarded as a highly fluent and melodic player, and he is ranked 37th in Rolling Stone magazine's 2012 list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time.
