Metrik is the recording name of Tom Mundell, a drum and bass producer and DJ from the United Kingdom who is based in London. He works across dancefloor drum and bass, drum and bass, EDM and electronic styles.

Career

Metrik begins releasing records in 2007 and does so mainly through Hospital Records. His early profile rises in 2008 with Your World, which becomes known as an overnight liquid funk anthem. A later track, Technicolour, brings wider attention after receiving support from BBC Radio 1 presenters Annie Mac and Zane Lowe and being used as the sound bed for Barack Obama’s victory speech on Radio One.

He follows this with a run of singles and EPs, including the sci-fi themed Between Worlds EP on Viper in 2011 and Freefall on Viper in 2012. He also remixes tracks by Prydz, John B, Camo & Krooked, Ayah Marar, Rockwell, DJ Fresh and Dirtyphonics.

Albums

Metrik’s debut album, Universal Language, is released in 2014. His second album, Life/Thrills, follows in 2016, reaches number 4 on the UK Dance Chart, and accumulates more than 6 million Spotify streams in its first year. The album also produces three singles. His third studio album, Ex Machina, is released in 2020.

He is voted Best Producer of 2020 in the Drum&BassArena Awards.
