Melissa Greener
Melissa Greener is a folk singer-songwriter and guitarist. She writes and performs her own songs, accompanying herself on guitar, and plays for audiences in different places as part of a life spent travelling widely.
Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, she later leaves the city and lives in several parts of the world, including Europe, the Middle East, the Far East, Canada and Austin, Texas.
Her background also includes extensive travel and time spent in a range of countries and regions: she climbs the second-highest mountain in the Swiss Alps, treks the second-highest mountain range in the world in Slovakia, spends two weeks at a sacred mountain in Tibet, climbs the Sinai, cycles from Vancouver, British Columbia to North Sydney, Nova Scotia, lives in a village in China where porcelain is discovered naturally in the ground, sails into the Mediterranean until land is no longer visible, and sees the stars in an Egyptian desert so clearly that the sky itself is obscured.
Her songs and performances are framed by that wide-ranging experience, with the practical, direct focus of a singer-songwriter who performs for money and for love, but mainly because she feels compelled to write and sing.
